What To Consider When Choosing Mini Storage Units

Selecting the right mini storage unit is essential. It is true that they offer great storage solutions, and also provide many other benefits. This increases the overall space of your home. It is important to choose the best storage option. After all, they will be storing some of the most valuable items you own.

There are many factors to take into consideration when choosing the right moving and storage service. This is in no way an exhaustive list. You can use this list as a guideline to determine your storage and moving requirements and then choose the best moving storage.

For you, convenience is the most important factor. It is not something I’d want to do. I know you won’t either. Especially mini storage units should be located a couple of miles apart. It will allow you to pick-up or drop-off your things whenever needed. You may be offered to have it done for you by some if you are nearby.

*Level: Mini storage units can be found on either the first or second floor. The upper level of any self-storage will cost less. It is cheaper because the goods that you are allowed to store on an upper floor will be limited. Bulky goods are best kept on the ground floor unless there is a driveway. The person that can move their bulky goods up or down a floor because they aren’t heavy may receive a discounted price.

*Security: Some units come with a variety of safety devices, while others don’t. Some units have hi-tech safety gadgets like infrared detectors and closed circuit cameras. You should choose hi-tech protection if your item is very valuable and you don’t want to risk losing it. You should choose a storage facility which matches both your budget and requirements.

Several facility providers offer services 24 by 7. It means you can stop by at any hour and pick up or drop off your products. Once again, it is important to determine if you really need the facility. This service provider would need to hire staff and provide lighting, heating and other facilities. Think about it, who is going to foot the bill for these additional costs? You are the only one who will pay for all these extra costs, so take care. These 24-7 facilities are not recommended unless your things need to be retrieved urgently.

*Insurance – Make sure you insure expensive items. In self-storage, it is rare that anything gets broken. But why risk the possibility? The insurance companies know about the security standards in mini storage facilities, and will lower your premium.

As mini-storage units become more popular, they are increasing in number. You need to find the perfect one. By doing this, you can save money and unnecessary headaches.
